With the baseplate securely in place, it's time to wire the Ecobee Smart Thermostat. Refer to the picture or labels you made earlier and connect the wires to their corresponding terminals on the Ecobee baseplate. Use a wire stripper to expose the necessary length of wire if needed.Installation. Have an old school oil furnace, with a 1970's Honeywell mercury switch. Simple 2 wire - the mercury just touches two wires, and completes the circuit to turn heating on. The wires are labeled "T/T". I am now aware that not all 2 wire furnaces are the same, others are labeled "TH/TH" or "R/W", and the distinction is important.....
