Frances Carter Ferguson, 89, of Roanoke went to her heavenly home on the evening of Saturday, July 1, 2023. She was a member of Grandin Court Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and developed lifelong friendships. Sue was a counselor and friend to many throughout the Roanoke Valley. Her passion for life was reflected in her love of gardening, people, her animals and the outdoors. She was preceded in death by her parents, William Cole Riggs and Marion Colsen Riggs; sister-in-law, Amy.James Alva King, Jr. "Jim," 89, of Roanoke County passed away on August 5, 2022. He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, the late Sara Spigle King, his son, Benjamin Moyer King, and his sister, Jalene King Buck. Mr. King was born on April 26, 1933 in Boones Mill, VA to the late James Alva King and Lois Franklin Flora King.The family will receive friends from 2 to 6 p.m. on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, at Oakey's North Chapel. The Funeral Service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Oakey's North Chapel with Pastor Michael Sheppard officiating.
