Over torque causes cylinders to distort but I have never heard of a change in torque aluminum head to cast iron or visa versa. The piston's movement has pressurized the mixture in the crankcase, so it rushes into the cylinder, d...Apr 10, 2013 · I have aluminum heads and aluminum intake ,I used ARP head studs ,intake bolts and header bolts ,the intake is torqued to 35 lbs exaust to 35 lbs and safety wired heads 90 &80 , The Aluminum Heads are not the problem ,it is the torque yield of the fastners ,use good quality fastners ,Felpro no retorque gaskets,you will not have a problem,on the small block make sure the intake bolts are long ... These specs are for stock-type bolts with light engine oil applied to the threads and the underside of the bolt head. Moly and other lubes offer reduced friction and increased bolt tension, which will affect the torque figure. If you use aftermarket performance bolts like ARP's, you should follow the recommended torque specifications..
